Year 9 Horizons

The Horizons Program aims to provide an exciting, challenging, and motivating program that engages Year 9 students in their learning. It endeavours to bridge the gap between the Middle School Program and the senior secondary years by providing a special program that values this group and provides learning experiences that expand the whole person.

The Outdoor Experiences at Year 9 are designed to have a variety of impacts. Each student participates in physical and outdoor challenges that are supported by the curriculum and classroom preparation. As students learn to care for their environment and challenge themselves physically, they develop an acceptance of themselves and others, while building strong relationships of trust with peers and educators.

The Horizons Program enables students to experience a greater degree of independence and choice in their learning by choosing a variety of semester based electives. These subjects are designed to challenge learners needing extension and assist learners that need assistance and consider a wide range of skills and interests students bring with them.
