Computer System
The College has invested heavily in a comprehensive Information Technology system.
Students have access to 4 full-sized computer labs and laptops which can be used from any classroom using wireless connections to the computer network. Each student has a network username and password which gains them access to their documents, Internet and their personal settings.
The discipline of Information Technology aims to encourage participation in a curriculum which offers students the opportunity to advance in this present volatile computer environment. We equip our students with the necessary skills and knowledge to interact with hardware and software resources and then apply these abilities to solve problems through the creation of a technology product. We aim to encourage our students to be confident in the use and application of the technology offered at the College.
We provide access to a wide range of business and multimedia applications throughout the Microsoft, Adobe, Macromedia range, as well as many others. Our students are readily prepared for IT standards at tertiary and industry levels.
The College has implemented Apple's Workgroup Manager as the security software for all computers which connect to the network and utilises Apple's UNIX operating system MacOS X Server for Staff and Student Document folders, Web Server and Mail. We also use RedHat Linux for various tasks.
