VCE Results

Dear Saint Ignatius College Geelong community members,

I write to congratulate our Yr 12 students on their achievements and provide an overview of our senior students’ 2023 results. Well done to all Yr 12 students!

Thank you to all teachers, support staff and families for your support of our Yr 12 students throughout their years at our College. Well done on your extraordinary commitment, perseverance and patience.

I am happy to report that our students' VCE results are pleasing overall, similar to last year's. Many students can feel proud of the results they achieved. Their perseverance, knowledge, skills, and effort resulted in an achievement that met or exceeded their expectations.

I particularly congratulate our 2023 College Duces, Ross De Lange and Emma Fenton, both receiving a very impressive ATAR of 98.2. Well done Emma and Ross!

Some key 2023 VCE results statistics are:

  • 10.3% of our students who applied for an ATAR received a rank above 90;
  • 25.8 % of our students received an ATAR of 80 or above;
  • 30 was the median study score; and
  • 6.3% of our students received study scores of 40 or more.

Two of our students achieved a perfect study score of 50 for their Unit 3/4 Subject. Congratulations to:

  • Catherine Anderson (Yr 11) – Biology; and
  • Emma Fenton (Yr 12) – Psychology.

Whilst our Yr 12 VCE Vocational Major students do not receive final scores, it is important to acknowledge their achievements in completing this valuable program that better met their needs. Many have secured full-time apprenticeships. Others will be undertaking further education and, some have obtained employment. I wish them all the best for their futures. Congratulations to James Dean who has been acknowledged as the 'Top VCE Vocational Major Student' for 2023.

With the VCE results in and Senior School Certificates obtained, some students may be looking for some support, and I remind students and parents that our Work and Further Education Coordinator, Mr Bruce Connor (connorb@ignatius.vic.edu.au) is available to discuss future plans with any student who would like some advice.

While I am very proud of our students when they achieve strong academic results, it is important to recognise that this is just one part of what we aim for our students at Saint Ignatius College. We provide a holistic education that helps our students build a fulfilling life to thrive and contribute to building a better world. Reflecting on the Class of 2023, I recognise the depth and breadth of their achievements and learning experiences across their years at our College.

The ‘results’ of all of our students reflect their commitment to learning, the hard work and encouragement of their teachers, and their parents and families' love and support. I wish our Class of 2023 all the best for their futures.

Best wishes to everyone for the new year,

Michael Exton | Principal
