University Open Days 2021

Some thoughts around Open Days

Open Days 2021 will take on both a Virtual and Face-to-face opportunities for students wishing to research more about future courses of interest.

If your part-time work commitments clash with certain Open Days, then it will be worth you having a discussion with your immediate supervisor to arrange a shift change.

Why go to an Open Day ?

  • Open Days provide the opportunity for you to meet and speak to some of the people who will be teaching you making your step to University or TAFE less daunting. In most cases you will be able to speak to current students of the course you are considering.
  • Open Days allow you to see first-hand the courses available. You might discover after further investigation the course you were thinking of undertaking does not appeal as much, however another course is more appealing.
  • Open Days provide the opportunity for you to discuss the costs associated (including accommodation and their scholarships) with University or TAFE studies.
  • Glossy Brochures and Websites only give a small appreciation of the organisation. Visiting gives you a feel for the place that you will be potentially staying at for 3-4 years. In some cases, more!!
  • Visiting also gives you an indication of how far the organisation is from your current home. The idea of travelling for hours each way may not appeal and if you are keen on the course then you will need to give consideration to the issues around accommodation.
