Billy Shares His Experience

Last week ex-student Billy Dando (pictured) was invited to share with our current Year 12 students his experiences at University and provide some advice to students around course selections. Billy is in the final stages of completing his four-year Bachelor of Construction Management (Honors) degree at Deakin University.

Billy decided on Deakin University because it was close to home and the course had everything he was looking for and currently he employed with Civilex as a Site Engineer (as part of his degree). Following a well- deserved holiday in South America, Billy is hoping to remain at Civilex as he ventures into fulltime work. Billy’s long-term goal is to work towards a Project Management role - which may also include further studies.

Current Year 12 students were then provided with an overview of the VTAC process (the application process to obtain a place at University and some TAFE courses) as well as other relevant information. With University and TAFE Open Days happening in August, this was a timely presentation to students who are considering their plans for 2020 and beyond.

All students in Year 12 are encouraged to book a time with the Careers Counsellor to discuss options and plans as they prepare for this next stage of their life.
