Year 7 'Cyber Cats'

Year 7 'Cyber Cats'

On Tuesday last week, a group of Year 7s went to the Geelong Cats footy club to learn about cyberbullying and how to stay safe online.

It was apart of a program founded by Geelong Cats player Corey Enright, called Cyber Cats. Cyber Cats was founded to teach teens that what happens online isn’t always compliments and love.

Over the course of the day, we learned about cyberbullying, what it is and what to do if you are ever put in a situation where you are getting bullied online. It was a really interesting day and the people running it gave us some really useful information and some great tips on how we can stay safe on the web.

It was an overall great experience and it just got better when everyone got to do a Q and A with Tom Atkins and Rocky Cranston. It was a very enjoyable experience and we are very grateful for the experience.

Meg Swinton, Caitlin Berriman, and Amy Lawson.

Our students were even lucky enough to be filmed by the Channel 9 team who showed a segment on their news program on Wednesday 24th July. It is still accessible on the 9Now website.

Thank-you to all of the students involved in the day and to Olivia Whitehead from our Wellbeing team for organising and attending.

The students were wonderful ambassadors of our College and will use their knowledge to make a presentation at the next year level assembly.
