Learning & Teaching Update

Unit 4 Semester 2 Progress Conferences

Parent/student/teacher progress conferences will be held for all Unit 4 VCE students as well as Senior VCAL students next Thursday August 8th from 4pm to 8.30pm. These will be conducted in the Mackillop Centre at the College. Rooms M01 – M04 will be used for VCE conferences and M09 for VCAL conferences.

Bookings for these conferences can be made via the Parent Portal on Xuno from 3pm Thursday August 1st up until Wednesday August 7th at 12noon.

A letter outlining these conferences was emailed to all parents on Monday July 29th and does provide further detail regarding their purpose and expectations.

We strongly encourage all parents, guardian and students to access these conferences as these have been timed to optimise key feedback prior to the final SACs and end of year examinations in VCE Units 3/ 4 subjects.

In the case of senior VCAL, it is equally important for students, parents and guardians to attend these conferences as it is an opportunity for VCAL teachers to share practical strategies and advice related to preparation for the remaining competencies to be met and also in relation to the transition of your daughter/son post school.

Should there be any further inquiries related to these conferences, please contact VCE Coordinator, Mr Michael Brown [brownm2@ignatius.vic.edu.au] or Ms. Kirsty Allan, VCAL Coordinator [allank@ignatius.vic.edu.au] to have these matters promptly resolved.

Year 9 & 10 Subject Information Expo

This combined subject information evening will be held next Wednesday August 7th from 7pm to 8.30pm. As detailed in the Care Monkey letter forwarded to parents and guardians in both levels on Monday July 29th, there will be two separate presentations complemented by an opportunity to ask questions of individual learning area leaders who oversee a range of subjects offered at both levels.

The Year 9 parents and guardians will gather in S1-3 at 7pm where an introduction will be provided by Mr. Joe Pannuzzo, Year 9 Coordinator prior to moving to the Gym at 7-45pm for a formal presentation regarding the features of the 2020 learning program at that level.

Year 10 parents and guardians will initially assemble in the Gym at 7pm for a formal overview of the Senior Pathways offered at the College before moving to S1-6 at 7-40pm to follow up with specific inquiries to be addressed by relevant learning area leaders.

Please note that there will be an opportunity to learn more about the 2020 VCAL pathway in S7 from 7.50pm that same evening for parents, guardian and students keen to know more about what that pathway entails.

We look forward to meeting you on that evening and ask that you indicate your ability to attend via Care Monkey if you have not already done so.
